If you enter the London Congestion Charge zone during its hours of operation you are responsible for paying the charge. The zone operates Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm. Payment can be made up until midnight on the same day (£11.50), or up to midnight on the next charging day (£14). If you are planning a journey into London you should check to see whether or not your route will take you into the Congestion Charge zone.

Frequently asked questions:

I have driven in the congestion charge zone today - how do I pay the daily charge?

You can pay online at the Transport for London website. Please be advised that you can still pay the charge the day after you have driven in the congestion zone but on the third day a fine will be sent to LeasePlan which we are obliged to pay and recharge to you, along with an administration fee.

I want to register my vehicle as exempt from the congestion charge or apply for a residents' discount. What should I do?

Certain vehicles are exempt from the charge, or you may receive a discount if you live within the congestion zone. To view all the exemption criteria and register your vehicle with Transport for London as exempt please go to the Transport for London website.

I have received a Congestion Charge/Bus Lane fine recharge.  Why was this paid on my behalf?

Congestion charge fines and some bus lane fines (depending on the authority) must be paid by LeasePlan as the registered keeper and recharged to you. The issuing authorities do not allow us to transfer liability. If this has happened for a different fine it may be due to your company's policy. If you would like to talk to someone about this please email drivingoffences@leaseplan.co.uk.

I have been incorrectly charged for a Congestion Charge penalty - how can I contest this?

Please go to the Transport for London website for details on the congestion charge. If you wish to appeal and contest the fine please contact LeasePlan to obtain authority in writing to be able to contest the fine directly with TFL. If you would like to pursue this please call your DriverLine. If you do not know your DriverLine number please call 0344 493 7644. Please note you must appeal to Transport for London within 28 days of the date of issue of the fine for them to review it.

I have contested a Congestion Charge penalty with Transport for London (TFL) and they have agreed to cancel the fine. What should I do?

Please notify us by emailing drivingoffences@leaseplan.co.uk

Once we have received official confirmation from TFL and the refund has been received we will issue the credit via your customer account.

Dartford crossing

To pay, please phone 0300 300 0120

The barriers that used to be at the Dartford Crossing have been removed to reduce congestion.  The new system is called the DART charge.  Charges apply between 6am and 10pm every day. It is free to use the crossing between 10pm and 6am. Don't forget you will need to pay the charge for each trip across the Bridge.  You must pay by midnight the day after you cross.  You can make one-off payments or set up an online account at the official website. One-off payments can also be made at over 18,000 payzone retail units.  You can find your nearest outlet on the Payzone website.

Please note that if  you do not pay by midnight the day after crossing, you will face a penalty.  The penalty is currently £70, reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days, plus the original crossing charge.  This charge will be paid for by LeasePlan and recharged to you with an administration fee.
